She gasped with excitement and shouted over the noise of the propeller: "The islands in the clouds are real!!". The little girl Knelt down on her knees, gazing at the endless clouds in front of her, as if it was a valley of white mountains.
" I could almost jump onto them!" She whispered as she stood up with her arms extended outward to her sides and her chest pushed outward. She started to lean forward, but slipped on a leaf beneath her feet. She started to fall off the small little island, her eyes glued to the stars and moon in front of her. Then, she felt a hand grab her shirt tightly. She was thrown onto the island, her body slamming against the steam-punk-style light house.
"That really hurt!" she yelled, slowly standing up, rubbing the back of her head. "Who do you think you-" she slowly stopped talking, her words turned to mumbles. She gazed at the man in front of her. He was wearing black, leather, steel tipped boots with ragged blue jeans on. She also noticed his white t-shirt tucked into his pants before be put on his black leather jacket. His skin was white, but his right arm was mechanical. it looked like a normal arm, aside from the dark-metallic color and the obvious lining where the curved slabs of metal met held together by screws. He had steam-punk-goggles around his neck. He looked around 28 or 29. He had a serious look on his face, as he shrugged his shoulders while putting knife away. She felt scared of him. he walked up to her, each step making her shiver. She constantly stared at the knife holster on the side of his belt, the silver knife inside. He knelt down in front of the girl, gently grabbing her chin. Turning her head from side to side and looking at my cheeks, he started to speak;
" How did you get here?" he asked. his voice sounded deep, but not very deep. Staring to the side, his hands at his hips now, he stood up and looked at me with a smile on his face.
" Well? if I want to get you home I have to know how you got here!" He exclaimed, in a friendly tone.
" Um.." She started, staring down at her pink shirt, blue shorts and sandals. " I was sleeping in my bed, because I has school in the morning, and I heard a dog barking in my ear, and then I woke up here."
The man rubbed his chin with a questioned look on his face, glancing off to the side. While he pondered, the girl stared at his metallic arm, her eyes glued to it. She scanned the arm up and down.
"What happened to your arm, mister?" she asked, her innocent voice disturbing the man's inner thoughts.
" Oh, this?" He said, raising his arm in front of her. "An old friend made it for me." He stood up, helping the girl up onto her feet.
" What's your name, mister?" She asked, staring up at his face.
" You ask too many questions, y'know that?" He said, jokingly. With a smile on his face, he pointed his hand toward the light house, as a part of the wall opened up to lead inside of the light house. He started to walk inside, calling out to the girl.
" Come on inside" He said, knocking on the side of the wall. " She won't bite."
"Cool!" She said, running inside the light house. As she walked in, she saw the wall paper was a giant map, with writing on it. Various cities, lakes, and islands, circled around or X-ed out all together. All across the floor, there were books scattered, torn apart, and piled in various spots of the room. She stared up at the ceiling, she saw a giant, black globe stuck in the middle of it. She only saw the bottom half, but it was almost as if she was staring into a window to space.
" Welcome to the Fenrir." The man said, walking down the staircase. He continued to talk.
"What is it?" She said, looking at the man with excitement.
"You'll find out when you wake up." He responded.
"What?" She said. She noticed se did feel a little tired since she got there. She looked at her hands as they started to disappear. She started to panic, as the old man simply smiled at her.
" Can't I stay with you, mister!? I'm scared, and have no where to go!!" She yelled, as she started to cry.
He walked up to her and layed his hand on her head.
" Only if you call me by my name." He said.
"What is...it..." Her eyes started to close, and she started to fall. She saw herself fall through the floor into complete blackness, and a ringing in her hears.
"AAAAAAH!!" She screamed. She awoke from her slumber, realizing it was all a dream, hearing her alarm going off at 9:00 A.M. However, she saw a piece of paper at the end of her bed. She reached out to it and grabbed it, only for there to be one word on it:
wow. really good, i can see how you would continue it.
